ChemWand® - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q Is ChemWand® suitable for all chemicals?
A No. Customers have an infinite range of possible fluids and operating conditions, some of which are incompatible with ChemWand® and all of which are beyond the control of ChemIndustrial Systems, Inc.
Unintended consequences may result from the use of this product. So, it is the user’s responsibility to carefully evaluate and test ChemWand® for compatibility for use in any particular application.
The user shall assume all risks associated with use of this product.
Q Where can I find out about the chemical resistance of polypropylene?
A Internet searches may be useful. ChemIndustrial has a table posted on another of its websites: http://www.hydroclone.com/theory/pp_resist.htm. Use it and similar references only as a starting point for investigating chemical compatibility and carefully note and respect any posted warnings and limitations concerning the information provided.
Q Does ChemWand® allow a drum to be pressurized?
A No. Standard drums are not built to withstand internal pressure or vacuum so ChemWand® has an engineered vent to keep the drum at atmospheric pressure.
Q How much vertical adjustment does ChemWand® allow?
A Approximately 3", which is enough to accommodate differences between metal and plastic drums. It's also sufficient to deal with most remanufactured "shortie" drums.
Q Do you sell custom ChemWand® lengths?
A Yes. The modular ChemWand® design allows us to offer specials quickly and at reasonable prices. Call us to discuss any custom requirements.
Q So, can I order special lengths for totes, IBCs and custom portable tanks?
A Yes. Just measure the distance from the top lip of the 2" female fitting to the bottom of the vessel and plug this value (in inches) into the part number.
Q What about vessels that are smaller than a drum?
A Same thing. Just measure the distance from the top lip of the 2" female fitting to the bottom of the vessel and plug this value (in inches) into the part number.
Q Are special ChemWand® lengths priced differently from standard ones?
A Yes. Please add $20 for most non-standard lengths up to 72".
Q How can I use a ChemWand® on a drum's buttress thread?
A ChemIndustrial sells two adapter types for buttress drum connections:
- 2" FPT to 2" USA buttress adapter
- 2" FPT to 50mm Euro buttress adapter
Q What about 2" BSP thread adapters?
A The standard 2" ChemWand® fitting fits the following:
- 2" USA FPT drum fittings AND
- the similar 2"BSP threaded drum connections
used in
the UK and many other countries.
